How To Love - Music Video Review

The last 12 months have been challenging for the Young Money supremo.... prison marriage break ups and his artists not doing quite as well as they were...

So when Lil Wayne releases 'How To Love' it was a nice suprise to see the rapper genuinely emotionbal and singing - with the help of autotune of course but even so its a nice change....

The video is very laid back and lets the lyrics do the talking which is hardly usual protocol for hip hop stars.

Video is below

Very nice song for Wayne and a nice change however I dont think it'll be too long until he gets back to his champagne popping cigar smoking vid's... do you?

When Do The Bells Ring For Me - Song Review

Tony Bennett is well.... rather old and the fact that he has just released a new album at the grand age of 85 is quite astonishing!!

The album of duets features Michael Buble, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and Andrea Broceli.

The most exciting duet for me was 'When Do The Bells Ring For Me' with Mariah Carey. She just has a fantastic voice and is just so intrieging....

The song is really romantic and see's the two crooners swapping lines longingly wondering when the bells will ring for them.

These two are serious professionals and it shows...

Bennett belts out the cllassic whereas Mariah shows restraint before unleashing the voice right at the end

overall it's just really nice!!!

With Ur Love - Video Review

Cher Lloyd is definately a controversial figure and has a fair few haters out there. First single Swagger Jagger was very in your face and although it did get to #1 there was an undercurrecnt of discontent with the singer in general.

Some of that it has to be said is bought on by the singer herself and the young lady clearly has a lot to learn on how to win the public over!

However you feel about the x factor star you have to admit she has got talent.... there have been comparisons to Nicki Minaj and at times you can see it.... she just needs to learn how to play the game a little better.... it will come though

2nd single 'With Ur Love' shows a softer side to Lloyd and will bring in a new audience.... the featuring of Mike Poisner on paper is a weird one but after a listen it just works...

video is featured below

This is trying to portray an image of Cher the girl next door and whilst I dont think she's the girl next door i'm sure she's not the monstor she's made out to be....
her new album is dropping in a few weeks and i am excited....
everyone is intrieged they just wont admit it!!

Papi - Music Video Review

Jennifer Lopez has reinstated her superstar diva status as of late partly thanks to American Idol and partly thanks to Red One and Tricky Stewart who are the in music producers that pretty much garuntee chart success and have delived with JLO's Love?

It looks set to continue with 3rd single 'Papi' as it screams 'radio please play me' I would not be suprised if this has similar success as On the Floor and Im Into You which are 2 smash hits from JLO's album.

The PAPI video see's JLO get her glamour on and it has to be said she looks FAB!!

Loving the song and she does look flawless!! She was suppose to be promoting the single on The X Factor however there are runours flying around that the performance has been axed!! I cant think why and i hope its not true as this song deserves some decent promo and exposure!!

Under The Misletoe - Video Review

The beib is back!!! 'Under the Misletoe' is the festive offering from the canadian superkid and it's a laid back affair that was unexpected but very welcome indeed...

The ringing of bells and smooth understated vocals give the whole thing a very dare i say it?? christmassy feel and makes you feel all festive and warm....

The video features Beibs on a day out in the winter (check the warm coats) with a Selena Gomez lookalike and although Justin gets distracted various times he ends up staying true to his girlfriend and

Its all very sweet and well justin beiber really!

Should I hate it? .... Probably
Do I love it? .... ABSOLUTELY

Beiber fever will return this christmas and with his new album dropping November 1st its staying with us all season long!!

Take A Chance On Me - Video Review

The boys of JLS just keep bringing those hits....

They have a formula that as of yet is relentless and shows no sign of slowing

it goes something like this:

firstly an uptempo first single which screams number 1 is released....
secondly a ballad is released showing a softer side of the boys again number 1....
then the album is released and one more single is released from the album
then a tour is on the cards making them squillions!!!

I'm not bashing JLS at all..... what they've done is very impressive 5#1's in just over 2 years is impresssive...

so where are we in the JLS cycle in October 2011?

step 2 actually

the bands 8th single is the customery ballad and actually is pretty good!

Take A Chance On Me video below

This is nice to see from JLS..... I was beginning to wonder if they've gone a bit LA crazy and bright colours and White Teeth seemed all too foreign from the JLS we fell in love with on X Factor.

I'm pleased to say this is just JLS and the city of London at its best.... sometimes the simpler the better and that is definately the case here.... another number 1? I think so.....

The following album 'Jukebox' looks interesting!!

We Found Love - Video Review

Rihanna's domination during the Loud era was quite astounding!

She really got her mojo back and produced brilliant pop songs that radio lept up!!
Can she continue with her forthcoming album Talk That Talk?
If the first single is anything to go be then yes!

We Found Love produced by Calvin Harris has already hit the top spot in the UK and so RiRi domination looks set to continue.

The video has just been released
review after the video.

I'm not always a fan of Rihanna video's however this one is a cracker!! She brings out a vulnerability that we havent seen since Rated R however with the upbeat song in the background it never gets too sinister.....

the cinematic feel puts it apart from lots of boring run of the mill videos released lately and is in my opinion her best video to date.. CONGRATS GIRL!!

Future History

Future History (Deluxe Edition)
Jason Derulo
Label: Beluga Heights

Pop music is the hybrid of all music. It takes various elements of pretty much all other music and mashes it all together to make something that is instantly catchy; sickly sweet; and perfect for both that Monday morning rush to the station and those Friday night dashes home. This brings me nicely onto Jason Derulo’s new album which he obviously holds in high regard as it has been ambitiously titled Future History. Now on previous songs Derulo has been a master at the Pop mash up and makes sampling others tracks seem second nature so he is great at making radio friendly songs from past history but Future History…… we shall see.

The album opens with the 1st single ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ which heavily samples Robin S Show Me Love. This is a smart move from Derulo as this is one of the biggest and most recognisable club songs in Europe and the dance club scene is having more and more of an effect in the states these days too, the song itself is what we’ve come to expect really. Very catchy easy to dance to and hey presto Number 1 single time.

The second single ‘It Girl’ proves that Derulo is capable of slowing things down and laying it all on the table as he pleads ‘you can be my It Girl’ and ‘This is it girl give me 25 or life’. It again has radio firmly in mind and this top 5 hit again proves Derulo has serious airwave clout. The rest of the album is firmly in the dance inspired genre with backing vocals overlapping making each song seem like you know all the words after just one listen. Songs that pull this off well are Givin’ Up, Make It Up As We Go and Fight For You as well as the throbbing baseline of ‘Breathing’. There are one or two forgettable moments on the album where you feel he has gone too cliché and therefore the songs border on cheesy. Overdose being the perfect example, lyrics like ‘let me love you till I overdose’ are just a bit cringe worthy and let’s face it have all been said a million times before. The standout song has to be the closing track. ‘Dumb’ see’s Derulo getting all emotional and berating himself for being so stupid and Blind about a relationship where he clearly got burnt. This is such a standout track as amongst all of the dancing and auto tuning you finally get to hear a strip backed version of the singer actually singing from the heart and not just about going to the club. I very much doubt this will be a single as it just doesn’t fit in with every other song on the radio but it’s impressive all the same.

Overall this record is a solid effort with many potential singles that I’m sure will be all over the charts in the year to come. In the fickle world of pop music to create an album that is so radio safe is actually quite difficult as you need to sound fresh and exciting without sounding too far removed. On the whole this album executes that well and that is a great achievement however to declare this as Future History….. That is ambitious. Good try though.
